SPARKS will fly at the Yeovil Showground as the 45th annual Fireworks Extravaganza ignites on November 1.
The Yeovil Lions Club has once again teamed up with Yeovil Round Table to host the event, which will raise money for local causes.
There will be a bonfire, fairground rides, live music, hot food and confectionery stalls and a bar which will remain open throughout the evening.
The main attraction will be an 18-minute display put on by Classic Fireworks Ltd and during the night, film characters such as Darth Vader and Batman will be mingling with the crowds and posing for photographs.
Local bands Storm and Complete Control will be playing at the show and all the profits raised will be divided between the two organising groups and mental health charity Mind.
One of the organisers Peter Lunn said: “This is the only firework event in the area which donates all the profit to charity.
“We are constantly striving for new ways to develop the event to give the public more value for their money.
“Our aim this year is to give the public the event they should have seen last year which unfortunately was affected for the first time by the weather.
“Classic Fireworks do not give second best displays. They have promised to give a spectacular show this year for which they are also providing the musical accompaniment.
“Along with us they were very disappointed with some of the public’s negative reactions on social media after last year’s display.
“They had not previously encountered this in all their years of delivering professional firework displays. Over the years the event has grown from just a firework display to now having numerous attractions.
“We intend to create a safe and fun atmosphere for everyone to enjoy on their night out. Please come and celebrate Guy Fawkes Night in safety with us knowing the money you spend will be helping the local community.”
Gates open at the Showground at 6pm. Entry is £7 per adults and £4 per child or £18 for a family group of two adults and three children. To book tickets at a discount go to www.yeovilfireworks.com.
