Welcome to the Yeovil Lions website
The Yeovil Lions Branch Club was formed in 2004 by a group of like-minded individuals who wanted to give something back to their local community. Keen to follow on the 39 years of community service set by the main Yeovil Lions Club, the branch club was formed under the umbrella of the International Lions Organisation and is guided by their code of ethics.
Our main aim is to raise and give money to local deserving organisations and individuals, whatever their need. We aim to enjoy ourselves and have fun, not be bogged down with too many rules and regulations, and ultimately to get a ‘feel good’ factor from what we do.
The Lions Club of Yeovil was formed in 1965 and the sponsoring club was Bournemouth. The person mainly involved from the Bournemouth Club was Kenneth Riley who became a Past District Governor and Past Chairman of Council. He was a Quantity Surveyor who was friendly with Philip Cooper an Architect in Yeovil.
The first preliminary meetings were held in March 1965 at The Mermaid Hotel and the Club was Chartered in October 1965 with Philip Cooper being it’s first President, an office he held for the first two years.
The club now meets at:
